Second Ultrasound and My First Trimester

Well, I am 14 weeks pregnant now and in the second trimester.  The ultrasound pics that Steven posted lasted were taken at our second appointment at 12 weeks.  I will tell you all a little about that appointment.

This doctor’s appointment was just supposed to be a checkup.  The doctor was just going to listen to the heartbeat with the dopplar and we were not going to get an ultrasound.  Well when we got back to the doctor he tried to hear the heartbeat with the dopplar but it would not pick up.  He said there was no need to worry.  Since I was only 12 weeks the heartbeat is sometimes hard to pick up with the dopplar.  So he said we could get a ultrasound just to make sure everything was ok.  Steven and I were excited that we were going to get another ultrasound.  We had to wait out in the waiting room for quite a while.  I was a little worried, but more excited to get to see my baby again!

We finally got back to have our ultrasound and the baby was so much bigger than last time!  Also, the baby was moving like crazy.  The baby was kicking its leg and opening its mouth.  The baby also looked liked it was sucking its thumb and was moving its arm.  It was so amazing.  Steven loved it!  The ultrasound tech goes to my mom’s church and was in youth group with me so I have known her for a while.  She let us watch our baby for quite some time and she took 4 pics for us.  If you look at the pics you can see in one where the baby is moving its leg.  She said that our baby was going to be an active baby.  It was so awesome to see the baby moving and stuff.  We loved it!

So our next appointment is this Monday, the 11th.  We aren’t supposed to get an ultrasound, but there is a chance that Sarah (the ultrasound tech) will sneak us in for one anyway. Smile

Since I didn’t write much about my first trimester I thought I would sum it up for everyone.  I was pretty nauseated all throughout the first trimester, but I only threw up once until I got a stomach bug on the 12th week.  The bug seemed to last for a week and it was horrible.  The first two days I couldn’t keep down anything and I was having diarrhea and vomiting at the same time!  (Sorry if that is too much info).  For the next few days if I stuck with liquids and soup I was just nauseated but anything else I threw up.  It was not fun.

I have been craving some things, but what is weird is what I am NOT craving.  Ever since I found out I was pregnant I have had an aversion to sweets.  It makes me sick to even think about having a piece a cake or candy.  The oddest thing is I really have NOT wanted ice cream at all.  I know that is hard to believe.  I have had ice cream twice in the last 14 weeks.  It is so strange and Steven can’t believe it.  The things that I have been wanting to eat is real food like meat and potatoes.  I have really wanted nachos bell grande from Taco Bell a few times and I love having french fries with cheese melted on top.

As far as other symptoms I have been tired a lot and feel bloated all the time.  There are a few other little things, but it probably would be too much info for some. Winking smile

So now I am in the second trimester and finally my nausea has been going away.  I have actually lost about 5 pounds since I got pregnant, so I am trying to eat more now that I am feeling better.  I am also starting to show!  It is just a little, though.  It makes me happy that I am starting to show because I want everyone that sees me to know that I am pregnant!  Steven and I are getting a new camera with our tax money this weekend.  I broke our last camera over the summer at the beach by getting sand in the lens.  So anyway, we will post a pic of me sometime next week so everyone can see my little bump! Smile

So I will try and post early next week after our appointment on Monday.  Maybe we will have some more pics of the baby to share with everyone.  Thank you all for your continued prayers and love!Preggy Present
